If you want some imagery of yourself being engaged in your favourite pastime, then give me a call and we'll hook up when the surf's up. Just tell me which Gold Coast beach you want to hit and I'll meet you there. I will try to be as flexible as possible for short-notice bookings when the surf is going off. Pricing is inline with portfolio/portrait rates (see Information menu).

You might want to split the cost with some friends and do a group shoot.

For individual models (portfolio work) and for general portraiture, I charge $500/day, $300/half-day, or $100 per hour.

Photography tuition is charged at the same rate as modeol portfolios / portraitures.

For commercial shoots, I charge $900/day, $500/half-day, or $100/hour (minimum of 2 hours).

For a group portfolio/portrait session (2 to 4 people), the commercial rate applied.

I'd like to stress that just because the pricing is modest, doesn't mean that the work is cheap.

Rationale

One should also bear in mind that for any given job there is a certain amount handling required to get the photos from the camera, into another format (from RAW) and onto DVD. I generally throw in some minor retouching for free although that is generally charged for separately. It depends on the assignment. I may spend half a day out in the field taking photos and then I may spend another 2 hours or so downloading them, converting formats/resolutions, and then burning them to DVD as well as trundling down to the post office to send it on it's way. It might take 4 days to process a wedding so the wedding photography fee is  really paying for a week's work - but this varies a LOT and it depends what you want.

I've decided to offer the building and deployment of websites for modeling portfolios.

Basically I am a veteran website programmer from way-back but I do not wish to do this for a living any more. However, it makes sense to offer a standard product which is relatively quick(cheap) to re-produce but is impressive in it's functionality and feature-set.

What I am offering is a website not unlike this one that you are using. It will basically be the same layout, but with your own choice of background and colour scheme. This website is essentially a giant slideshow with a juke box plus a dynamic menu to which content pages can be added to and edited through a simple (and very high-end) "Content Management System" (CMS).

The slideshow is actually capable of supporting a multi-album gallery with a sophisticated suite of options on how to display the images. As you can see from this site, it is an ideal way to deliver high-resolution slideshows that create a WOW! impact.

There is a special introductory price of $800 to have such a website built. This does not include the CMS license which is US$200 for commercial usage (half that for non-profit organizations). You will also need to purchase your own domain name (which is cheap). Basically you will be paying $800 for my services in duplicating this site's functionality, and customizing it to your needs and then training you in how to update and modify your own content areas and blog pages. You will also be able to maintain the images using the CMS' sophisticated image gallery backend.

The CMS used to power this site is none other than the venerable Expression Engine. Have a look at the list of features to have an idea of the power at your disposal should you wish to expand the functionality of your site at a later stage. I've rolled out this CMS for a few clients now and they are very happy with it. I've also become very knowledgeable with it and so I am pleased to extend this dependable service to you. I’ve been in this industry for 10 years and have decided the US$200 you pay buys a hell of a lot over the freeware content management systems that most of the Internet Studios around the Gold Coast employ. The product is reliable and has tech-support from the people who made it (as part of your purchase price). This system is more than capable of providing the platform for a website that costs $50,000 or more to build. I'm not kidding. The backend can be as simple or as complex as I configure it to be - which of course will be very simple in this case. You could well build a business with the site selling your images or charging for subscription.

In the future, you have the option of using the CMSs powerful capabilities to extend your own site's functionality implementation. You can add newsletter subscriptions, feedback forms, surveys, discussion forums, your own wiki system (which registered users of your site can participate in), e-commerce and much more. All of this functionality is available in the CMS and just needs to be enabled in your site through the building of templates. There will be other developers who can easily implement this for you since the only kind of code required in HTML/CSS template code. They won't have to program the functionality themselves. In other words, you will have a wickedly powerful platform on which to build your site into the future. You can even hire experts to do the expansion work remotely (over the Internet).

If I so say so myself, the implementation of the site you are looking at is quite clever by design and incorporates my 10 years of web development experience and creativity. There is smart scripting involved to ensure that your slideshow/juke-box experience is uninterrupted as the user navigates through the site. Marrying the CMS backend with the Flash slideshow is another bit of creativity not found in any instruction manual. All told, it’s a pretty nifty and highly functional little cluster of Internet publishing technology. I've been involved with the web since 1997. The advice and consultation you'll get from me could be worth a lot depending on your plans for the future.

It's an insanely good deal and it makes perfect sense for any model wishing to establish an online presence. The introductory price is  really very cheap indeed and will be required up-front.

Trying out modeling for the first time can be a daunting experience. In this case some basic guidance is provided to get you going. I am a firm believer in keeping the energy positive especially in this kind of working environment. I know we can get great results when a model feels at ease and relaxed. The photo shoot is an interactive process especially for beginners. We do some shots, and then I show you how things are looking. Seeing how the shots turn out is always reassuring and usually the model finds his/her wings once they figure it out. It is a fun process and ultimately, a confidence building one. This is one of the primary reasons I choose to specialise in this for of photography. It's really rewarding for me to witness this kind of transformation when it does happen. I consider it a privilege to be part of the process.

I think I have a different approach to most photographers. I combine my landscape photography sensibilities with portraiture to create a blend which presents the model in unique and varied contexts. I try to run this business with an "Abundance mentality". This means I don't believe I need to protect my own interests by giving away less. When I do a photo shoot, you always get all the files in original resolution. This is equivalent to receiving the negatives in the old days. The only thing I retain is the copyright. I will include a license agreement on the invoice. You will find that it is not very restrictive. In any case, everything is open to discussion.

That's right. We don't have to worry about a "proofing" process - you get ALL the images electronically. You pay me for my time, and I will give you the entire product of that. It simplifies everything. I believe it is a more natural way of doing business.

Either the photos will be delivered via the web where you can browse and download the images you want, or you can get the RAW files on DVD. RAW files contain all the colour information at full-resolution and are great to have if you ever want to revisit an image through photo manipulation on a computer. This is usually the best option, although the web is the fastest.

As a rough guide, Terence charges $500/day. There is a minimum charge of $100 which covers travel within the Gold Coast and taking the time to download the images and copy them out to DVD or upload them. So for instance, a half day would be $100+$200.

The hourly rate is $100/hour.

Services such as wedding photography will take more that just a day or half a day of shooting, it will require a lot of post processing so you are paying for more than just photography time. The basic wedding package starts at $1000 and includes a hard-cover album as well as the digital files.

You really don't need a reason, an excuse, or an occasion. Everyone could use some nice professional photos of themselves simply because it they're nice to have. It's also a fun and relaxing day out. Consider getting a friend or two and splitting the cost up to four ways or why not just treat the family. It would make a great gift for someone.
